We are based on the stunning Copper Coast in County Waterford on the south-east coast of Ireland.
We specialise in sea kayaking. Due to the rugged and exposed nature of the Copper Coast we specialise in training and coaching sea kayakers, leaders, instructors and guides on the knowledge and skills to handle and enjoy rough water conditions. We focus on low-volume high-quality coaching, from absolute beginner to advanced expert level. We put emphasis on building solid foundations and fundamentals in sea kayakers from day one.
We are an official provider for Canoeing Ireland, the National Governing Body (NGB) for paddlesports in Ireland. We are insured and accredited and our instructors are formally trained, qualified and certified.
Copper Coast Sea Kayaking is owned and run by Craig Keyworth. Craig is a passionate waterman with a lifetime of ocean watersports experience in windsurfing, kitesurfing, bodyboarding, surfing, open-water swimming, dinghy sailing, ocean cruiser sailing, surf kayaking, SUP, and of course, sea-kayaking. Craig is a seakayaking instructor, coach and guide who views sea kayaking as more than just a hobby or a sport, but as a holistic lifestyle.
Craig serves on the Canoeing Ireland Training and Development Unit Committee, and is honoured and delighted to be part of a small team of fellow instructors and professionals who are currently reviewing the Canoeing Ireland sea kayaking qualifications scheme. The Sea Kayak Awards Review Group (SKARG) team have been tasked by Canoeing Ireland to propose improvements to the sea kayaking qualifications and the scheme, Craig is the project manager on the SKARG project. Craig's personal motivations in this review are for Irish sea kayaking standards to be amongst the best in the world, and for the national system to equally serve Irish sea kayakers, clubs, instructors and commercial providers.
Craig is frequently assisted by his daughter Emily Keyworth. A "waterbaby", Emily is very at home in the water, rough and smooth, and is a qualified lifeguard. She has been sea kayaking with Craig since before she could walk and is now a gifted sea kayaking coach in her own right with her own set of unique specialities. Emily specialises in coaching people in development of confidence and comfort in the water, self-rescues, and assisted rescues. She has been performing self-rescues and assisted rescues since she was a small child so has learned, develops, refines and teaches innovative methods and techniques.
